[Class 74 (ii).] Two rollers B, B<1> are provided for cooperation one with each face cam A3, A<4> of the cam shaft A of a straight-bar machine, and are mounted upon a slide B4 which can be moved automatically into either of two positions, in each of which one roller only is in engagement with its cam. The two face cams A<3>, A<4> are radially displaced with respect to the shaft A, and the means for moving the slide B<4> towards and away from the shaft preferably comprise two arms C<1>, C<2> secured to a rocking shaft, one arm carrying a roller C<4> acted upon a cam C<5> attached to the face cam A<4>. A fork C<6> mounted upon the slide B<4> embraces a shaft C<3> connecting the arms C<1>, C<2>, and when the fork C<6> is rigidly secured to the slide B<4>, the slide is moved by the cam C<5>. A member D is slidably mounted upon the slide B<4> so that it can be moved by pattern mechanism so that slots D<1> in it can be moved from beneath lugs C<11> formed upon the forked member C<6> so that the member C<1> is rigidly secured to the slide B<4>. When the slots D<1> are disposed beneath the lugs C<11>, the forked member C<1> rotates about its pivot and allows the shaft C<3> to move without the slide B<4>. A hook or catch G<2> pivoted upon the bracket B<5> carrying the slide B4 is provided for maintaining the slide in its outer position.
