Abstract

379,592. Cylinder paper-making machines. DEHN, F. B., 103, Kingsway, London.-(Beloit Iron Works; 815, 2nd Street, Beloit, Wisconsin, U.S.A.) Dec. 21, 1931, No. 35323. [Class 96.] A fibrous web from cylinders 1, 2, 3 is taken by a pick-up felt 11 to a foraminous band 14, e.g. of wire-cloth, and water removed without applying substantial pressure, with suction at a zone 19 acting through a roll 15 and the band 14. The felt 11 and web then pass over a return roll 17 and guide rolls 12 to a press 40, 41, e.g. a suction press, and the web may pass on a carrier 52 to press rolls 50, 51. Suction rolls 15, 40 may comprise hollow perforated metallic shells with rubber sleeves.
