Abstract

458,760. Wet presses of paper-making machines. MILLSPAUGH, W. H., 101, Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio, U.S.A. June 21, 1935, No. 17904. [Class 96] In a Fourdrinier or cylinder paper-making machine a wet press beyond the couch roll 2 comprises an upper plain roll 5 acting on the wire side of the web and a lower suction roll 4 having a suction transfer box 6 and a waterwithdrawing box 7, a felt 12 receiving the pulp web A as it passes between a part 1a of the wire-cloth 1 and the roll 4, and conveying it about the roll 4 and through the press 4, 5, A second, similar wet press 8, 9 may be arranged similarly to the first but with respect to an upper stretch of the felt 12, the web being again reversed, and smoothed by the plain roll 9. Further smoothing may be effected by a pair of plain rolls or the web may pass directly to the dryer. The wire-cloth 1 may be driven from the rolls 2, 3 in synchronism with the felt 12, e.g. as described in Specification 458,757. Specification 365,373 also is referred to.
