Abstract

774,213. Wet presses of paper-making machines &c. MILLSPAUGH, Ltd. Sept. 12, 1955 [Sept. 10, 1954], No. 26224/54. Class 96. A suction transfer roll 4 picks up the wet web from the wire-cloth 1 of a paper-making machine and a pick-up felt 5 carries it through a first wet press 6, 7, the lower felt 8 of which takes it through a second press having two upper rolls 10, 11 coacting with a roll 9 having suction zones 12, 13, the web 14 then passing to a drying cylinder. In modifications: (1) the felt 8 carries the web to the drying cylinder; (2) the pick-up felt 5 is extended at 5A, 5B to encompass the roll 10; and (3) an extra upper felt encompasses the roll 11 and accompanies the web over part of the drying cylinder surface.
