Abstract

1,146,075. Paper-making. KARLSTADS MEKANISKA WERSTAD, A.B. 20 May, 1966 [21 May, 1965], No. 22436/66. Heading D2A. A fibrous suspension is introduced and dewatered between a wire and a water impermeable surface to form a web which is dried by means of heat before it is separated from the impermeable surface. In one embodiment the impermeable surface is the surface of a heated dryer drum about which is disposed in succession a headbox, the wire, a press roll in a felt loop, a drying hood, and a doctor blade to remove the dried web from the drum. In a second embodiment a steel band is entrained about two spaced rotatable cylinders, with the headbox, wire, and press roll and felt loop being arranged around one cylinder, a heating unit and drying hood between the cylinders and a doctor blade about the other cylinder. A two ply web may be formed by having an additional headbox and wire disposed about the dryer drum in the first embodiment, or disposed about an additional rotatable cylinder in front of the first cylinder in the second embodiment. A web having more than two plies may be formed.
