Abstract

378,165. Gravity-separation apparatus. PAINE, S. W. T. and ALUMINIUM PLANT & VESSEL CO., Ltd., Point Pleasant, Wandsworth, London. July 2, 1931, No. 19104. [Class 46.] A device for drawing off liquid, for example, beer, free from sediment or scum, comprises a casing c supported by a nozzle a which screws into the outlet b of the vessel e to be discharged. The liquid enters the casing through apertures k in the base. The casing is provided with a domed cover g, which has an upturned rim g<1> fitting the side of the casing, drainage apertures j, and a handle h. The cover serves to trap the portion of the floating head directly above the casing so that this matter can be removed, either with or from the cover, and is thus prevented from acting as a seal and causing reduction of pressure in the casing.
