Abstract

168,556. Lyons, H. C. Dec. 29, 1920. Dispensing liquids.-A vessel containing cocoa or other liquid containing a thick sediment is provided with an outlet valve containing a pocket always open to the bottom of the vessel which when the valve is open is flushed out by liquid drawn from the top of the vessel so that the liquid delivered contains a mixture of this liquid and sediment. The valve is formed as a conical cock p, held on its seat by a spring and passing traversely through a chamber m<2> in the wall of the vessel. The usual opening in the plug is replaced by a slot p<4> always open to the bottom of the vessel. Liquid enters the chamber m<2> through a hinged, flexible or telescopic pipe d, the opening of which is kept near the surface of the liquid by a float d<2>. When the plug is turned the liquid entering by the pipe d washes out the sediment which has collected in the slot p<4> through the spout.
