Abstract

161,585. Burin, (nÚe Glineur), C. B. April 16, 1920, [Convention date]. Fuel containers.-A tap for petrol &c. tanks comprises a chamber 1, Fig. 1, secured to an annular fitting 6 on the underside of the tank by means of a nut 7. The part 1 is surmounted by a sieve 5 and is furnished with two outlet pipes 2, 3, respectively, the pipe 2 being continued upwardly and provided with openings 4<1>, and constituting the petrol supply pipe to the carburettor. The pipe 3 opening out of the bottom of the chamber serves to draw off water separated by gravity from the petrol, and also enables petrol to be drawn off if required. Fig. 6 shows a means of closing the tank to enable the filter to be removed. A valve 9 is adapted to close on to a seat 10 formed on the annular fitting 6, Fig. 1. The valve has a depending projection 11 in engagement with the arm 12 of a bell-crank lever the lower forked arm 15 of which is engaged by a head 17 on a screw 18 passing through the fitting 6. The opening in the tank can thus be closed by manipulating the screw 18.
