[Class 47 (ii).] In an inversion extincteur of the kind in which a spindle carrying a valve for closing the inner vessel is provided also with means for obturating the discharge outlet of the extinguisher, the valve e is carried by a pin k fixed to the spindle f, the latter being of such diameter as to close completely the outlet c<5> to the nozzle g when the valve e is closed. In a modification, the lower end of the spindle carrying the valve is reduced. A. cage l limits the upward movement of the spindle. The latter is connected by a pin h<2> and slot f<1> to a cap h associated with springs i, j. The spindle is held in the closed position by a bayonet joint h<1>, and is packed by packing f<2> compressed by the spring j. In another modification, the lower end of the spindle is hollow or perforated, and adapted to open communication with the nozzle g only when the valve e is opened. In another modification, the cap h has one or more cam slots or surfaces co-operating with pins or surfaces on the cover of the extinguisher, whereby rotation of the cap causes axial movement of the spindle. The slots or surfaces are interrupted at points to cause locking of the cap in the extreme positions of the spindle.
