Extincteurs; portable pressure reservoirs; sprinkling- apparatus, non-automatic.-A chemical fire - extinguisher particularly suitable ior aeroplanes &c., has a valve-controlled fluid outlet from which run two or more delivery pipes, of which at least one is fixed and delivers to a definite point, such as a carburetter, and another is flexible and can be directed to any desired point. The flexible pipe has a controlling cock. The extinguisher shown comprises a main container 5 and an inner reagent container 22 supported by a frame 10 and having an opening closed by a plate 24 soldered over it. The inner vessel is opened by a screwed spindle 13, which passes through packing rings, when a handle 14 is rotated. The lower end of the container 5 has an outlet 35 normally closed by a spring-held valve 36. From the valve chamber pass the fixed and movable pipes 41, 42. In a modification, the vessel 22 is replaced by a pressure bulb adapted to be broken by a hollow piercer when the handle is rotated. The frame 10 is adapted to support either form of inner vessel. The handle in its operation may be arranged positively to open the outlet valve by means of an extension on the handle. The Provisional Specification describes a construction wherein the handle has both rotary and sliding movement and opens the valve 36 by means of a shaped, tubular sleeve engaging a stem on the valve, the sliding movement of the handle and sleeve being controlled by a co-operating pin and slot.
