Abstract

217,115. Krauss, F. E., and Graaff, W. Oct. 3, 1923. Portable pressure reservoirs.-A portable fire extinguisher in which the extinguishing liquid is permanently under pressure is sealed both by a screw-down valve or a cock and by a metal seal which is torn by the valve or cock when it is opened. The metal seal a is soldered to the top of a tubular extension on the valvei socket b and to an angular part of the valve stem c so that it is torn when the valve is turned. The valve packing disc and the metal seal a mav be made of an easily fusible metal: such as Wood's metal.
