Abstract

375,464. Steam superheaters. AKTIEBOLAGET LINDHOLMENMOTALA, Hisingen, Gothenburg, Sweden. April 14, 1931, No. 10979. Convention date, Nov. 20, 1930. [Class 123 (iii).] In apparatus for superheating interstage steam by passing it over sets of tubes 8 connected to the compartments of partitioned headers 9, through which live steam flows in series, the condensate collecting in the header compartments is returned to the boiler through pipes 14, and, in order to maintain the pressure differences between the compartments, the pipes 14 are water sealed, preferably by connecting them to a collector 15 arranged below the super-heater and connected to the boiler space by a pipe 17. The valve 18 controlling the supply of live steam to the superheater is so operated by a temperature or pressure actuated device 21 in the l.p. exhaust steam pipe 20 as to keep the exhaust above saturation point. Alternatively, the device 21 may operate valves in the pipes 14 or 17 to control the accumulation of condensate in the compartments of the superheater.
