Abstract
374,575. Pulverulent-fuel furnaces. HOLD, C.,'9, Stocksiepen, Bredeney, Essen, Germany. April 17, 1931, No. 11508. [Class 51 (i). A pulverulent-fuel furnace, of the kind in which the fuel is burnt in suspension in a combustion chamber b to which air is admitted through a number of passages in the floor c, is adapted for burning unground fuel, e.g. the residues from washing or. dry-cleaning plants, by maintaining the combustion zone in sufficiently close proximity to the floor c that the latter is kept at such a temperature that the heavier fuel particles falling thereon are completely burnt. The floor may be either stepped or plane as shown in Figs. 3 and 5 respectively and is provided with vertical and horizontal air admission passages f, g, the air supplied through the letter serving to keep the heavier fuel particles continuously in motion and free them from ash. The air, which may be cold or preheated, is supplied under pressure through pipes d, and at the lower end of the floor c there are provided ash collecting boxes n covered by grates o. The steps of the floor c shown in Fig. 3 may be filled in, to provide a plane upper surface, by wedge-shaped blocks also having vertical and horizontal air passages, or a plane upper surface may be obtained by making the floor blocks k themselves wedgeshaped.
