Abstract

Sept. 29, 1919, Air supply, regulating.-In a travelling or other furnace grate C in which the fuel travels from one end to the other of the grate, cold air is supplied to the section above which combustion is most intense, e.g. the central section E, and hot air to the other sections. The partitions separating the respective air supplies may be vertical or, as indicated in dotted lines, of truncated conical form, the portions between the upper and lower rims of the grate being of plate and those below of plate or of brickwork.
