Abstract

270,295. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Ges. May 1, 1926, [Convention date]. Pulverulent-fuel furnaces.-n a furnace for burning coal dust in which the fuel is introduced downwardly through the passage 3 and is met by horizontal streams of air from nozzles 2 adapted to give to the fuel a whirling motion, additional nozzles 5, 6 supplied with air from a chamber 7 are arranged over the whole or part of the inner surface of the combustion chamber and are arranged tangentially to circles concentric with the axis of the furnace. The speed of the entering air gradually decreases from the top to the bottom of the combustion chamber so as to allow the whirling gases to gradually approach a rectilinear movement as indicated by the arrows. The nozzles may be of refractory material and inclined to the horizontal as shown at 6.
