Abstract
374,543. Wire and like strainers. HENSON, W. S., 4, Lingspit Yard, Temple Normanton, Derbyshire. March 20, 1931, No. 8566. [Class 45.] A tensioning device for withdrawing pit-props comprises a roller chain provided with a load hook and moved intermittently through a channel frame by a lever, one end of which is mounted by a link-swung fulcrum on the frame so as to engage and disengage the chain. As shown, the lever M is pivoted at L on a pair of links K, pivoted at J on the channel frame B, and is provided with teeth M<1> which engage the chain E. On clockwise rotation of the lever M, the chain is moved forward one step and held by a spring pawl N. The lever is now disengaged from the chain by anticlockwise rotation of the links K and returned to its initial engaged position. A bolt Q prevents accidental withdrawal of the pawl N.
