Abstract

187,184. Allcock, J. April 18, 1922. Lever load-handling appliances. -Comprises apparatus of the kind in which a lever arm is secured to the prop to be removed and connected to the usual pulling jack so that the prop receives both a twisting force and a pull. The lever arm 1 is connected by a chain 3 to the pulling jack, (not shown), and is provided with a hook 8 and a chain 6 having a hook at its free end. The chain is wrapped round the prop as shown and the slack taken up by passing one of the links over the hook 8 so that a pull on the arm 1 will tend to rotate the prop. In a modification an extra chain is provided on the arm 1 to hold it against the prop while the slack in the chain 3 is being taken up.
