Abstract

197,317. Faure, S. May 3, 1922, [Convention date]. Rope grips.-In a one-way rope grip for a handoperated winch the movement of the free end of the rope moves the pivoted levers 31, 27 outwards, to free the grip of the jaws 29, 30 from the rope. The same movement causes the rod 34 to raise a pawl from contact with the wheel 8. On the release of the hoisting effort, the running back of the free end 20 of the rope pulls the jaws into the gripping position and also releases the pawl which re-engages the wheel by gravity. To lower, the rope grip must be held " off " by hand.
