Abstract
277,625. Brighten, R. C. Sept. 20, 1926, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Rope grips.-In a haulage ropeway carrier which is caused to travel on a fixed cable or rail F by engagement with a moving cable R, the load hook J is suspended from the hinge pin C on which the rope gripping jaws A, B are pivoted. An extension D of the jaw B is pivoted to the arm P and an extension E of the jaw A passes through the upturned end M of the arm. A lever L pivoted at K to the arm P has a recess in its upper end which receives the pin C when the lever is turned into the position shown in Fig. 5. In this position the pin C is raised and the jaws are in position to receive the rope R. If the loaded trolley G is now moved along the cable, &c. F until the cable R is between the jaws, and the lever L is moved to the position shown in Fig. 1, the load on the hook will pull down the pin C and the jaws will close on the cable. The rocking of the lever L may be effected by contact with fixed stops. In modifications the jaws are actuated by a cam under the pin C, an extension lever on the arm E, or an eccentric at the point of pivotal attachment of the arm D to the arm P.
