Rope grips. -Relates to load-actuated grips for suspended cableways in which the haulage rope enters the grip jaws from below, and comprises an arrangement whereby any tendency to drag the rope out of the grip increases the gripping-force. The carriage frame a, supported on wheels on the carrying-rope, is formed with a downwardly-extending casing b in which slides a stem c carrying the releasing- rollers h. The lower end of the stem c is curved to form the fixed jaw of the grip, and the other jaw is pivoted thereto on a pin f and has a lever arm engaging a horizontal slot in the casing b. The load is hung from a pin k immediately above the grip, the load arm lying close to the fixed jaw to facilitate passing around pulleys on curves. The pivoted jaw is held in position by a wedge l sliding in the stem c and having a bent upper end m to engage the releasing-rails. The stem c is guided at the top by convex guides g and at the bottom by a link d.
