Rope grips. - Comprises a construction of load-actuated rope grip for aerial ropeways, of the kind in which the fixed and pivoted jaws are carried by a bar depending from the travelling carriage, and the load is supported by arms connected to a sleeve which slides on the bar so as to operate the tail-piece of the movable jaw. The apparatus is shown in Fig. 1 and comprises fixed and pivoted jaws G. 13 carried by a bracket o secured to the depending bar 4. The load tub is suspended from the sleeve 10 by bifurcated arms 9. The present invention consists in arranging the lower edge of the sleeve to bear directly on the end 14 of the pivoted jaw without being connected thereto, and in fitting a spring 15 between the sleeve and an extension of the jaw to form a positive opening-means for the jaws when the load is supported by the roller 16. To start the loaded tub on its journey when the roller 16 is supported on the releasing-rail, the pivoted jaw may be provided with a handlever for bringing the jaws temporarily into the gripping position. A. modified construction is shown for an inclined ropeway in which the upper part of the arms 9, instead of being bent to occupy a vertical position as shown in Fig. 1, are continued in line with the lower portions, and the sleeve is arranged on a laterally-projecting pin on the arms.
