Abstract

117,590. White, J. W. Jan. 4, 1917. Rope grips.-The movable jaw of a double-jaw rope-grip attaching the carriage supporting the load to the haulage rope of an aerial ropeway is held against the fixed jaw by a weight, spring, or by the weight of the load as described in Specification 28982/13, and is locked in this position by a releasable cam arm, stop, or the like. An adjustable abutment 11 on an extension 10 of the movable jaw 6 bears against a cam locking-plate 12 carried by a spindle 13. A counterweight 18 on a lever 16 provided with a roller 17 normally maintains the cam in position to lock the jaws. The cam is withdrawn from the abutment 11 when the roller 17 is raised by a rail placed at any desired point of the travel of the carriage. In a modification, the cam may be pivoted on the hanger 1 and bear against the sleeve 9.
