Rope grips.-The travelling rope c<1> of an aerial ropeway of the bi-cable type is gripped between a part d' of the load carrier a and a movable jaw f which is acted on by a spring i. The jaw f is pivoted to the carrier a at f* and is provided with an arm f<1> which is pivotally connected at its bifurcated end f<2> to a collar g which is free to slide upon a rod h passed through the spring i. Rollers j mounted on the rod h run on plane surfaces d<2> formed on the carrier. A link m jointed to the rod h is mounted on a spindle o carrying rollers r which travel in slots s in the carrier. The spindle is mounted in a hollow block t movable in a guideway u in the carrier and carries at its ends rollers v which run under and over ramps w, w<1> at the places where the carrier is to be engaged with and disengaged from the rope c.
