Abstract

300,227. Ropeways, Ltd., and Thorne, H. T. Aug. 9, 1927. Rope grips. - A load carrier for use on an aerial ropeway comprises a load hanger 3, the upper horizontal end portion 3a of which ,is journaled in bearings formed in the central portions of parallel plates 1, 2. A clip device 4 for engagement with an endless travelling rope 6 is journaled on the part 3<a>. The clip device is grooved on its underside and the opposite sides of the groove are provided with oppositely inclined projections 5, 5a, one or the other of which engages a helical strand of the rope according to the direction of travel. A transverse pin 7 carried by the plates 1, 2 and a projection 8 on the clip device limit the movement of the latter. Wheels 10 for engagement with a shunt rail are journaled upon pins 9 mounted near the ends of the plates 1, 2.
