Abstract

Tracks having a single guiding-rail ; rope railways.-In endless railways with interconnected cars having guiding means engaging a central rail, the driving means comprises one or more endless chains engaging the guides on the cars. The guides c are connected by the car bodies g or by couplings j and engage a rail b, Fig. 4. For curves, the guides have rollers l, and cross-bars m engaging an auxiliary rail n. At the parts of the track where the chains occur, the guides c engage a rail t, Fig. 3, while the rollers l engage a rail u, the rollers p of the chain being supported by a rail s. Each guide has a pawl o, Fig. 2, engaging the chain q and a pivot i engaging the car g, a slot being provided to receive the axle f. Each axle is rigid with its guide and bears against metal strips h on the car.
