[Class 79 (i).] An endless-track carriage comprises one or more elongated members a, Fig. 1, having one or more endless series of rolling members b rolling round the members a, the members b being retained in correct relationship to each other by interconnecting links c, two or more of which are resilient and are oppositely disposed relative to the elongated member. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the resilient links are springs j. The rolling members b may be wheels, rollers, or balls. The lower run of the wheels b runs on an overhead rail i and a load is suspended from the member a by a shackle g which may be provided with lifting gear. The wheels b are double and may run on either the top or bottom flanges of the rail i. A load platform may be supported on the member a, and the carriage may be driven by a motor through a pinion gearing with a fixed rack. In the construction shown in Fig. 5 each rolling member r comprises an elongated member s and a series of wheels t linked together, the rolling members being connected together by links u. A pinion p carried by the main member a gears with a fixed rack q. In the construction shown in Fig. 6 an end member v of an overhead travelling crane runs on endless tracks of the kind shown in Fig. 1. The crab of the crane may roll on similar tracks.
