Abstract

441,942. Suspended rail vehicles. FELCO HOISTS, Ltd., and TICHELLY, L. J., 17, Victoria Street, Westminster, and PALLETT, W. G., Victoria Works, Millhouses, Sheffield. Sept. 4, 1934, No. 25501. [Class 103 (iv)] In a load-suspension trolley of the kind in which one or more wheels travel along a single or dual track provided by an overhead rail, the trolley is maintained in a position of equilibrium and the wheels prevented from leaving the track, whether the trolley is loaded or unloaded, by means of one or more steadying rollers which are adapted to engage an under surface of the rail section so as to exert an upward thrust on the rail. In the construction shown, the trolley comprises a pair of parallel plates 14, 14a between which are arranged two pairs of wheels 10, 11 mounted on stub axles 12 and running on a dual track furnished by an I- section rail 13. The plate 14<a> at one side supports a driving wheel 21, while the plate 14 at the other side carries upon a pin 22 a steadying roller 23 which may be adjusted in a vertical slot 24 in the plate 14 and engages the under surface of the lower flange of the rail 13. In a modification, the adjustable roller is adapted to engage the under surface of the upper flange of the rail. In another construction one or more rollers, adjustable or not, may be mounted rotatably or integrally on a pin extending between the side plates 14, 14<a> and adapted to engage the under surface of the lower flange of the rail at fixed or variable selected points.
