Abstract

1,139,759. Suspended railway vehicles. DEMAG-ZUG G.m.b.H. 8 June, 1966 [18 June, 1965], No. 25598/66. Heading B7L. [Also in Division B8] An overhead travelling crane comprises a pair of spaced travel-gear girders 2, a crane girder 1 connected therebetween and on which the hoist 3 is mounted and a solid rubber tyre 11 mounted on each girder 2 for frictional engagement with a running rail 9 whereby the crane may be driven. The rubber tyres 11 are each mounted between an electric drive motor 12 and a transmission gear 13 which are suspended en bloc in a framework 15 pivotal about a horizontal axis at 16 and spring urged by cup springs 17 to maintain the pressure between the rubber tyres and the running rail. The crane is suspended from the running rail by conventional wheel 5 or may have tyred wheel mounted by universal points 6 to the travel-gear girders 2. Conventional guide rollers 8 may engage the web of the running rail.
