Abstract
1,144,309. Railway vehicle undercarriages; wheel arrangements; elevated railways. DEMAG-ZUG G.m.b.H. 8 June, 1966 [11 June, 1965], No. 26597/66. Heading B7L. A trolley for a hoist 1, Fig. 1, comprises a frame 2 formed of side member assemblies 3, 4, connected at their ends by transverse girders 5, each side member assembly being provided at each end with a pair of coaxial running wheels 6 mounted on horizontal stub axles 7 and engageable with the horizontal webs of an inverted T- section rail (16), Fig. 2 (not shown). Adjacent each pair of running wheels 6 is a pair of guide rollers 8 rotatable about vertical axes and engageable with the side edges of the horizontal webs of the associated rail (16). The invention is characterized in that a single friction drive wheel 9 is carried by and below one side member assembly (e.g. 3) only, to drivingly engage the bottom surface of the associated rail (16). The wheel 9 together with its coaxially mounted traction motor 12 and transmission gear 11 is carried in a support (13) pivoted to the side member assembly on a horizontal axis (14) and urged towards the rail (16) by cup-springs (15) as described with reference to Fig. 3 (not shown). In another embodiment, a trolley for a small hoist has at each end of each side member assembly a single running wheel. One wheel is engageable with the outer horizontal web of the associated rail (16) whilst the other wheel is engageable with the inner horizontal web of the rail (16). In yet another embodiment, a pair of running wheels and a pair of guide rollers are mounted on a universal joint at each end of each side member assembly as described with reference to Figs. 5 to 7 (not shown).
