Abstract

1334981 Guiding rail vehicles KOTTGEN & CIE GmbH 10 Jan 1972 [9 Jan 1971] 986/72 Heading B7L A railway vehicle having a horizontally rotatable running gear 10 whereof wheels 12 run on a flat floor, is guided in a main guide rail by a main guide roller 13 and a lead roller 16 while auxiliary guide rollers 18 and 18<SP>1</SP> are selectively lowered into auxiliary guide rails 17 and 17<SP>1</SP> to respectively guide the vehicle into a left- or right-hand branch 2 or 2<SP>1</SP> of the track. When the vehicle has front and rear running gear both may be guided as shown or only the front running gear. In an alternative embodiment the wheels 12 and rollers 13 and 16 are replaced by a single bogie wheel a tread which rolls on side surfaces of the main guide rail. In addition with either of the above embodiments an overhead guide rail 40 congruent with the floor rail may be provided and the vehicle carries an upper running gear on a rotatable head 51 on top of a lifting frame 26. Said upper running gear comprises a main guide roller 41 guided with the limbs of a U-shaped rail portion and left and right pairs of auxiliary guide rollers 44 and 45 mounted on elements 42 and 43 rotatable about horizontal axes which are selectively swung into engagement with the outer surfaces of the rail 40 to guide the upper running gear in correspondence with the lower running gear.
