Abstract
1386655 Suspended electric railway ARN JUNG LOKOMOTIVFABRIK GmbH 23 Feb 1972 [24 Feb 1971] 8391/72 Heading B7L A suspended railway comprises two rails 310 and 311, Fig. 3, on which a vehicle 315 with a wheel-carrying chassis 302 may run, when driven by a linear induction motor of which either the inductor 314 or the reaction rail 304 (the latter as shown in Fig. 3), is mounted on at least one swing frame 303 pivotably connected to the chassis 302, the swing frame 303 being guided, such as by horizontal guide rollers 305 and 306 co-operating with the track bearer or structure 309 which supports the rails 310 and 311 so as to position the reaction rail centrally within the gap of the inductor at all times. The plane of guidance 316 of the swing frame, i.e. the horizontal plane in which the guide rollers 305 and 306 (which preferably have treads of resilient material such as rubber), interact with the track structure 309, lies substantially at the mid-height of the inductor 314. The pivotable connection between the swing frame and the chassis, not shown in Fig. 3, may comprise several normally vertical swing supports 503- 506, Fig. 5 (in which example the inductor 507 is mounted on the swing frame 502), or pins in bores 605, 606, Fig. 6, parallel to the direction of vehicle travel which are vertically displaced from the plane of guidance. Vehicles like that described may be joined by preferably resilient articulation joints, between their swing frames or between their chassis, to form trains.
