Abstract

1503861 Stabilizing elevator guides EATON GmbH 19 Feb 1976 [28 Feb 1975] 06531/76 Heading B8L A stabilizing device for the lifting mast 8 of a shelf feed vehicle 1 comprises a carriage 16 carrying vertically spaced rollers 21, 21a engageable with each side of the mast 8 and horizontally spaced rollers 26, 26a engageable with guides 22, 23, 24 extending horizontally along shelves at each side of a passage along which the vehicle 1 travels. Each roller 21 is journalled transversely of the vehicle 1 to engage flanges 11, 12 of the associated mast channel section, and has an adjacent roller 21a journalled longitudinally of the vehicle to engage the web 13 of the section. The rollers 26 and 26a are similarly journalled for engagement with the channel sectioned guides 22, 23, 24. The base of the carriage 16 is pivotally anchored to a plate 14 on each of the two channels 11, 12, 13 of the mast 8, through either a spring washer 31 or hydraulic ram tensioning unit permitting limited vertical movement between carriage 16 and the mast 8. When hydraulic ram tensioning units are used, they are powered by hydraulic fluid from the mast lifting ram circuit. The mast 8 having a lock pick-up means 9, is detachably connected to a travelling carriage 7 which together with a drive vehicle 2 constitute the feed vehicle 1. Rollers 5 and 6 on the carriage 7 guide and support the vehicle on rails 10 extending along the passage between the shelves, while the front driven and bushed wheels 3 of the vehicle 2 are pressed against the ground. The device provides stability to the mast 8 transversely and longitudinally of the vehicle travel path, and through the tensioning units the mast load on the carriage 7 is partially reduced. In a further embodiment, the tensioning unit comprise weight loaded link gears.
