Abstract
981,758. Chains for endless conveyers. SOC. DE CONSTRUCTION D'APPAREILS MECHANIQUES-SOCAM. Nov. 15, 1961, No. 40863/61. Heading B8A. In Figs. 1, 2, 6, each link of an endless chain conveyer includes a vertical web 3 which bears on a wear-strip or rail 11 located in a channel member 12. Ribs 9 of the link are guided by the side flanges of the channel and additional guides 13 engage containers 10 which rest on a flange 2 of the link. Alternatively, the containers may be guided by upstanding flanges 25a, 25b, Figs. 7, 9. A recess 6 of the link receives a head 4 of an adjacent link, the links being readily disengaged by relative displacement in directions f1 or f2. The chain is driven by providing two shoulder surfaces 8a, 8b on each link which are engaged by one or more pairs of oppositely revolving cam wheels 16a, 16b driven by a motor 22 through gearing 21, 18a and 18b. Instead of the shoulders 8a, 8b being within the plan outline of the link, they may be provided in laterally projecting portions. The chain may be used with a single driving cam wheel co-operating with only one shoulder of each link, an abutment device preferably being provided to take up transverse stresses on the chain. Tensioning.-The chain is passed around a grooved pulley 27 mounted on a platform slidable on a bed plate 29. The longitudinal position of the platform is adjusted by screw and nut means. The platform is also provided with guides 35, 36, 39 for the containers.
