Abstract

1,095,630. Belt and chain gearing. T. W. RAINE. Nov. 29, 1966, No. 53452/66. Heading F2Q. A power transmission belt comprises a roller chain 10 having a plurality of blocks 11 connected thereto for transmitting a drive to or from a V-pulley. The opposed side faces 22 of the blocks 11 are adapted to engage the opposed flanges of the groove in the V-pulley and are each provided with a flange 23 of arcuate configuration. Each block 11 is secured to the chain 10 by a bolt 18 and nut 20, which, when tightened forces an arcuate recessed portion 21 of the block into engagement with the inner surface of the chain. In a modification, each block 11 is connected to a chain 10 by a member having a base portion 25, Fig. 4, rigidly connected to the block 11 and side members 26 which are curved inwardly towards each other and then curve outwardly to engage and grip the outer surfaces of adjacent rollers 13. This arrangement enables power to be transmitted between a sprocket wheel and a V-pulley.
