Abstract
387,139. Wire strainers. BAYER, J., 21, Nideggerstrasse, Lindenthal, Cologne, Germany. Feb. 24, 1932, No. 5522. [Class 45.] In a device for straining and securing baleties, the straining lever is so arranged as to be moved from its final operating position by the motion of a pivoted frame carrying the fastening elements. As shown in Fig. 1, the device comprises a base a to which a frame b carrying the fastening elements is pivoted at c. The straining elements comprise a clamping lever e and a straining lever f adapted to act in conjunction with a toothed roller n and a ratchet and pawl to tension the overlapping ends k, l. When the lever f is left in the final position shown in Fig. 1, the act of moving the frame b and its operating levers d into the upright operative position pushes the lever f out of the way. In a modified form, Fig. 3, the tensioning lever f<1> is connected to the frame b by a link g, and the tensioning of the bands can be carried out by moving the levers d.
