Abstract
151,107. Tawney, R. A. June 25, 1919. Hooks, closed.-Relates to chain, &c., straining and coupling devices for use with anti-skid chains for vehicles in which a cam-lever 8 is pivoted in a link 5 at one end of the chain and passes through a link 6 at the other, and consists in forming the end of the lever as a hook 13 adapted to carry a locking device. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the lock consists of a nut 14 screwed to the hook 13 and provided with flats 15 which are housed in the link, the positions of the pivot and the loop 10 being such that the lock is retained in engagement. In a modification the nut is replaced by an elongated member pivoted on the hook.
