Abstract

1392529 Turnbuckles EISENUND DRAHTWERK ERLAU AG 11 Sept 1972 [18 Sept 1971] 42074/72 Heading F2G In a turnbuckle or screw shackle 4 for tensioning chains 1, two hitch links 6 are connected by threaded members 12 to a tensioning spindle 9 which is rotated by a handle 22 pivotable from a rest position substantially parallel to the spindle axis to a working position at right angles to it. As shown the links 6 comprise collars 11 mounting cylinders 13 which surround externally threaded spindles 12. The tensioning spindle 9 is screw-tapped at reduced end portions of the bore. Stop pins 17 on the spindles 12 prevent complete disengagement. The handle 22 comprises a U-shaped wire which may be held in the rest position shown by a hook and chain 23 connected to a main chain link. The handle is pivotable about a pin 19, until a stop member 26 abuts the spindle 9 in the working position.
