Abstract

368,113. Cornice lighting. HOLOPHANE, Ltd. and WILLIAMS, R. G., Holophane House, Elverton Street, Vincent Square, London. April 11, 1931, No. 10721. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv).] Reflectors. - A lamp for evenly lighting the cornice of a straight or curved wall of a kinema or the like comprises a trough 1 covered by translucent panels 5, 6 and containing sets of stepped d reflectors 3 which rise on each side of the sockets 4 of spaced electric lamp p bulbs to about half-way towards the adjacent lamp sockets. The steps of the reflector increase in area and steepness the farther they are from the lamp sockets, and they may be highly polished or given a white matt surface. The cover panels 6 are denser than the side panels 5, and masks 7 may project downwardly on either side of the cover panels. As shown in Fig. 6, coloured lighting effects may be produced by arranging side by side a number of troughs provided with differently coloured covers. For this purpose the cover panels may comprise superposed panes of diffusing glass and coloured glass whilst the side panels may be of clear coloured material.
