367,167. Two-stroke engines. BISCHOF, B., 16, Tobelstrasse, Winterthur, Switzerland. Feb. 10, 1931, No. 4082. Convention date, Feb. 10, 1930. [Classes 7 (ii), 7 (iii), and 7 (vi).] Valves; valve gear; cylinder ports.-Exhaust at 8 and inlet at 9 are controlled bv a sleeve valve 3 reciprocated by a connection 19 to a lever 14 pivoted at 15 and fitted with a slide 13 mounted on a pin 12 on the connecting- rod, the arrangement being such that the speed of the valve is at a maximum as the exhaust is opened, and the moment of closing the inlet on the up-stroke is retarded. The inlet and exhaust ports may be interchanged, and the 'former may be arranged to give a whirling motion to the incoming air. Separate inlets for air and mixture may be provided in lowcompression engines, a sparking-plug being provided in place of the fuel pump 7. The valve may be of nitrogenized steel. Cylinders receiving Liquid fuel.-The fuel pump 7 may be actuated by a connection 18 to the lever 14.
