Abstract

366,396. Sewing-machines. FAIRWEATHER, W., 65, Chancery Lane, London.-(Singer Manufacturing Co. ; Elizabeth, New Jersey, U.S.A.) May 28, 1931, No. 15600. [Class 112.] Needle-holders.-The slabbed side 6 of a standard sewing-machine needle shank 5 is clamped against a seat 3 formed in he recessed end of a needle bar 2 by a clamping band 8, which embraces the needle bar and carries a clamping screw 9 engaging a gib 12 seated in opposed recesses in the clamping band and needle bar. A stop 7 locates the needle in correct longitudinal position. A standard sewing-machine needle may thus be clamped in a position reverse from the usual position to engage a loop taker having a beak passing to the left of the needle without disturbing the usual position of the needle clamping screw, or the clearance between the loop taker and needle blade for different sizes of needles.
