Abstract

366,147. Mixing and atomizing charge. FAIRLIE, T. W., 408, Clarkston Road, Muirend, Cathcart, Glasgow. Feb. 3, 1931, No. 19894/30. [Class 7 (ii).] A charge mixing and atomizing device comprises a series of superposed fixed baffles c, e, located above the carburetter throttle valve, the area of obstruction presented by such baffles being such that at any cross section the passage for mixture is at least equal to that at the throttle when the latter is fully opened. The baffles retard the flow of the centre of the body of air and atomized fuel. The baffle c consists of a spider clamped between the flanges a<1>, b<1>, and carrying at its centre a pin d which supports the other baffle e consisting of a number of radial projections staggered in relation to the arms of baffle c. At the upper end of pin d is a disc f. The baffles may be enclosed in a short cylinder the internal diameter of which is greater than that of the induction pipe.
