Abstract

286,030. Yemm, E. R. Dec. 20, 1926. Induction pipes, fittings and extra air valves for.-A chargemixing device of the kind comprising a hollow body containing substantially parallel baffle plates for intercepting the mixture on its passage to the engine, comprises outer plates 1, 2 having central inlet and outlet ports 3, 4, and one or more pairs of baffle plates 6, 7 separated from one another and from the outer plates 1, 2 by packing- rings 5, the plate 6 being provided with a number of small apertures 8, preferably near its periphery, and the plate 7 control aperture 8a or apertures substantially larger than the apertures 8. Extra air may be admitted to the mixture through hollow screws 10, 13 containing suction-actuated spring-loaded ball valves 17 and provided with outlet orifices 19. The plates 6, 7 may be provided with extensions adapted to be connected to some heated part of the engine. According to the Provisional Specification, the extra air may be admitted through a hand-controlled valve provided with a lock nut and fitted on the outer plate through which the mixture enters the device.
