Abstract

365,858. Treating flue gases. HABER, E., 2, Geisbergstrasse, Berlin. March 9, 1931, No. 7270. [Class 8 (ii).] For removing fly ash from flue gases in firing plant which work with suction draught, centrifugal blowers are placed at a point in the chimney where the flue gases are made to enter an annular space and change direction and so deposit the fly ash. A chimney 1 extends down into a casing 2 on the outside of which are the flues 4 leading from the furnaces. These flues 4 are led to the suction orifices of centrifugal fans which deliver the gases past a flap valve 7 into the annular space 6. The flue gases deposit fly ash in a hopper 13 and pass upwardly through a grating 15. In an alternative method the pipes 4 are led in horizontally as at 17, and in the event of the fans being out of use the pipes 4 or 17 may be connected direct by rising pipes 18 with the chimney. The centrifugal fans are intended to be driven by electric motors and these units are disposed within a casing.
