Abstract
531,012. Furnaces for core-drying ovens. McKEAN, J. G., and JONES, R. F. July 8, 1939, No. 19950. [Class 51 (i)] In a core-drying oven 1 supplied with hot gases from a furnace 3 fired by an underfeed stoker 5 the furnace gases are diluted by admitting air to the furnace 3 at the upper part thereof at the end remote from the oven flue 2. Air is led from the blower pipe 12 of the stoker to a chamber 8 located between inner and outer roofs 6, 7 of the furnace which it enters through the port 10. The chamber 8 may be provided with baffles 11 to cause the air passing through the chamber to follow a zigzag course. The air may be supplied to the chamber 8 by an independent fan and when the stoker is controlled by a thermostat the independent fan may be wired in series with the motor of the stoker unit.
