780,498. Gas fires. OOSTERBAAN, D. J. Sept. 21, 1954 [Sept. 21, 1953], No. 27313/54. Class 126 [Also in Group XIII] An economizer for a gas fire R comprises a canopy C, tubes 4, 5 opening into a vertical header 8, a second vertical header 12 connected to. the header 8 by tubes 10, 11, and arranged adjacent a plate 18 heated by the fire burners, and a vertical flue 15 connected to the header 12 by tubes 13, 14, and having a flue outlet 17 and an anti-back-flow device comprising hinged valve plate 16. By heating the gases in the header 12 gas propulsion from fire to flue outlet is attained and chimney draught is not relied on. Air from the room in which the fire is operated is heated by circulation up and around the exterior surfaces of the tubes 14, 13. 11, 10, 5, 4.
