[Class 99 (ii)] In means for cleaning flues, pipes, valves, &c. conveying producer gas, a draught is created in the flue &c. by blowers arranged therein, so as to burn combustible impurities and convert them into ash, and at the same time to blow the ash, and also the incombustible impurities, out of the flues, &c. Fig. 2 shows a flue 41 fitted with blowers 42 which may be supplied by pipes 43, 45 with steam admitted by a valve 46, and/or compressed air admitted by a valve 47 ; or the air may be induced through doors or manholes opened when the steam is being blown through. The ash and dust may be blown out of the chimney by suitable manipulation of dampers, or may be collected in a pit and removed therefrom, either by suction or otherwise. The air supplied for consuming the combustible impurities may be preheated. Fig. 10 shows a plant with a gas producer 1 connected by flues 90, 91 and a valve 96 to a consumer 2. Blowers 93 and a door 94 are provided in the flue 90, and a further blower is fitted at 98 for cleaning the valve 96, which may be closed down on to a seating. The ash and dust are collected in a pit 99 fitted with a door 100.
