Abstract
361,622. Multiple-way valves. VERNEUIL, E., 67, Rue de Villiers, Neuilly-sur- Seine, France. Nov. 25, 1930, No. 35483. Convention date, March 18. Addition to 357,844, [Group XXVII]. [Class 135.] In the parent Specification a valve 16 is described which establishes communication between an induction pipe I and the top of a fuel supply tank 7 to admit carburetted air, when starting. According to this invention, the valve admits extra air during normal running, or connects the fuel tank and the induction with or without the introduction of extra air. The valve 16 comprises three superposed discs 17, 18, 19, the last two being independently actuated. The disc 17 carries a stud 20 and to it are joined pipes 15, 14 leading to the induction pipe and to the fuel tank. The disc 18 has an arcuate groove 24 fitting over the stud 20 and a groove 25 which can be moved to connect the pipes 14, 15. The disc 19 has an opening 30 which can be made to register with an opening 26 in the disc 18 to admit air to the pipe 15. In a modification shown in Fig. 5. two discs 31, 33 are used. The disc 33 has a groove 36 which can be moved to connect the pipes 14, 15 and a small passage 37 opening into the groove to admit extra air at starting. An opening 38 admits extra air during normal running. The correct positions of the disc 33 are indicated by a spring-pressed ball 39 engaging holes 41 in the disc 33.
