360,083. Firebridges. CROSTHWAITE ENGINEERING & FURNACE CO., Ltd., York Street Iron Works, Leeds, and GRIFFITHS, W. W. R. F., Lyncott, Salford Road, Bidford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. Aug. 12, 1930, No. 24088. [Class 51 (i).] In a boiler furnace having firebars with longitudinal passages supplying air under pressure into an air chamber and atmospheric air into a vertical space formed in a divided firebridge, the firebridge is divided into front and rear portions 2, 3 with a vertical space 4 between, the rear portion 3 being greater in height than the front portion and corbelled on its inner surface to reduce the width of the air space 4 at the top and the front portion 2 being supported on the firebars 7. The firebars are of the kind described in Specifications 21514*/00, 21002/04, 6635/05 and 1987/07, [all in Class 51, Furnaces and kilns], and are provided with air passages 12 which deliver air under pressure through passages 14 into separate compartments of the chamber 8 having removable cover plates 19 provided with tapered holes 22 through which the air passes into the space 4. Atmospheric air passes through passages 13 in the firebars and through passage 17 in the chamber 8 directly into the space 4 where it mingles with the pressure air before escaping in a heated condition from the top of the space 4 to the flue 1.
