Abstract
358,072. Air-line oilers. WALKER, W. J., 26, 2nd Avenue, Parktown North, and GIMKEY, S. F., 8, Majestic Mansions, Empire Road, both in Johannesburg, South Africa.-(Assignees of Shell Co. of South Africa, Ltd. ; Union House, Simmonds Street, Johannesburg, South Africa.) May 27, 1930, No. 16364. Convention date, Jan. 9. [Class 12 (iii).] An air-line oiler comprises a tube 1 forming an oil reservoir supported concentrically by stops 3 within an outer tube 2 through which the air stream passes, the tube 1 having a piston 4 in the upstream end and a nozzle 5 containing a spring- loaded valve 6 at the downstream end. A Venturi tube 8 is adjustably screwed into the downstream end of the tube 2 around the nozzle 5, whereby the pressure difference between the two ends of the tube 2 causes oil to be forced through the nozzle into the air stream. The supply of oil may be regulated by adjusting the tube 8 or by adjusting a valve 13 in a byepass pipe 12. The tube 1 is charged with oil through a tube 11 fitted with a plug 10.
