Abstract

356,542. Crimping blasting detonators. ROLFES, Ltd. and SCHNEIDER, E., President Siding, Germiston, Transvaal, South Africa. Oct. 21, 1930, No. 31573. [Class 9 (i).] Relates to machines for crimping detonators upon fuzes, of the type wherein a plurality of discs 17 are mounted in radial slots in a housing 10, are retained in place by an apertured cover 19, and are adapted to be moved to and from the capped fuze in a central cavity 14 by the oscillation of an operating member 21 rotatably mounted on said housing. According to the invention, the operating member 21 is provided with a helical scroll-thread 21a engaging with corresponding threads on the dies 17. The dies have fingers 18 adapted to indent the detonator ; and the fingers of adjacent dies are arranged in staggered formation. The cavity 14 is provided with a socket 24 adjustably screwed into the housing to act as an abutment for the detonator. The operating member is provided with a handle 22.
